A Column of Fiction

A fictional storycarrying one REAL JUDGMENT

Each piece here begins not with a story but with a judgment — an ontological one — and then finds it a body: characters, a feud, a life you can read. The abstract blade, brought down on a concrete person. Philosophical tales and novels, added over time.

What is an SDE tale? Not a paper rewritten as dialogue, nor a lesson sugar-coated with plot. It is written backwards: a load-bearing judgment is first compressed into one counter-intuitive line, and then the whole story is built to feed that line — every choice, every reversal, every feud is that judgment paid out in a human life. You remember a person, a drama; what was smuggled in is an ontological machine.

Aristotle: The Seeing/Touching Divide — A Genesis-History of a Universal Philosopher, with Its Modern-Science Echo

The eye gives the world its boundaries, the hand gives it resistance; when boundary is called "form" and resistance "matter," a civilisation splits along the seam of seeing and touching. A life of Aristotle told as the genesis of that split — unfolded through his life's SDE (E-soil, D-path, S-crystallisation, rewrite-and-fissure), with a fifth part that carries the modern laboratory back into the story: visual–tactile integration, active touch, reliability weighting, cortical plasticity, Molyneux's question — used not to endorse but to rewrite the strong thesis wherever experiment conflicts with it. Not a takedown: genesis does not erase its forebears. With full-book PDF, cross-linked to its paper form and its deconstruction in the Western-Philosophy column.

The Origin of the Thing-in-itself: Kant's Life, and the Man Who Proved It Unreachable — and Became One

The man who spent his life proving the thing-in-itself forever unreachable was himself its deepest instance: the most transparent, clock-regular life in Königsberg hid a core no one — not even his servant of forty years — ever reached. A link in Discovery-vs-Genesis: Plato cast the mold in The Birth of the Forms; Kant honed it to its sharpest. Narrated by Lampe, Kant's servant of forty years — the man dismissed in 1802, of whom Kant wrote "the name Lampe must now be completely forgotten." It traces the origin of that unreachable it-self back through six roots.

The Birth of the Forms: The Man Who Never Wrote, and the Man Who Wrote Him into Eternity

The overture to Discovery-vs-Genesis — where the crack that freezes the living question into eternal Forms is first opened. Socrates never wrote a word; he midwifed "Beauty itself" from living souls in the agora — truth, for him, was an event that happens. Athens killed him, and his grieving student Plato, to keep him from perishing, froze the living question into an eternal realm of Forms to be discovered — not seeing that the price of its deathlessness was its life. The doctrine that denies birth was itself born, from one man's love and grief.

SDE★ A PHILOSOPHICAL LIFE-NOVEL · HEGEL · ABSOLUTE SPIRIT → SDE

Unseen, Unheard, Untouched: Hegel's Life and the Name He Gave the World-Soul

Hegel gave the unseen, unheard, untouched world-soul a name — Absolute Spirit — as Laozi's Dao begets the ten thousand things and the Bible's Father makes the universe. This tale asks not what it is, but why his life's SDE had to grow it: the collecting drive left by a mother's early death, the blood of revolution forcing "how does the abstract become real," the dusk-owl temperament that sees meaning only in hindsight. He did what neither Dao nor Father did — moved the source inside the world, needing history and human blood to become itself — and made the deepest error: installing the dusk-formed Absolute back at the dawn as ground, freezing the verb "becoming" into the noun "Absolute." The reflexive genesis cannot cap itself.

We Once Planted a Tree: Hegel, Hölderlin, Schelling and Three Fates of One Dream

In 1793 three seminary friends — Hegel, Hölderlin, Schelling — plant one liberty tree and share one dream of a world made whole again. Each reaches for it differently, and each meets a different fate: Hölderlin leaps back toward the lost origin and is broken, mad in a tower for thirty-six years; Schelling leaps into the ready-made Absolute and grasps only "the night in which all cows are black," his Ages of the World never finished; Hegel alone walks through and wins — then, at the last step, seals the living verb into a closed circle. All three make the same error: to possess the unpossessable whole, which slips every hand. A companion to "Unseen, Unheard, Untouched."

Upon the Rope: Nietzsche's Übermensch and Its Receding Light

Nietzsche's Übermensch was a verb — endless self-overcoming — but he gave it a noun's name and a costume of height and hardness, so it looked like a place to arrive. Heir after heir chased it across the abyss toward a far shore that was never there: the light that inspires is a forever-receding horizon, because "I have become the Übermensch" is itself its death.

Berlin as Jianghu: The Feud of Schopenhauer and Hegel

In 1820s Berlin, Schopenhauer treats Hegel as a target to be assassinated, never seeing that the 2,500-year machine they both stand on left the factory with two legs only — Parmenides' S and Heraclitus' D — its third leg E never installed. Schopenhauer grasped D (will · wave · conduct), a river with no bed; Hegel grasped S — and his very method was genesis, the closest anyone ever came, short only one breath.
